1. The Swallow’s Nest Castle

It’s a Neo-Gothic fortress, that sits 130feet above the Black Sea. While the complete history of the castle is little known, it is believed to be constructed by a German noble in 1912.  It is said that the land was his honeymoon spot, which includes a small wooden house, which was a romantic spot and now it is still considered as a couple’s personal retreat for tourists.

Nestled in the Heart Island in New York, was built in 1900 by George C. Boldt, a rich hotelier who constructed the residence as a mark of his overwhelming love for his wife, Louise. Just a few years post the construction his wife suddenly died.  Bolt then stopped the work on the castle. This historical and magnificent castle fell into ruin until the 70s, when the property was acquired by the Thousand Island Authority which was then restored inside and out.

Built for a princess by Boyce Gulley. The history of the castle is a  mix of tragedy and magical love story. After being diagnosed with tuberculosis, Boyce left his Seattle home. He left his daughter and wife, who was not willing to watch him die and began one of the most enchanting yet odd love stories in the history. He bought this  80 acre Castle with last money he had left, in the foothills of South Mountain. He wished to use only natural materials and artifacts for its construction.

4. The Taj Mahal in Agra, Among Must Visit Historic Places in India

Built by Emperor Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz who died in 163, he enlisted a team of architects to build this magnificent historic building in her honor. Around 1648, the main complex was built and more than 20,000 sculptors, artisans, and calligraphers were brought to the Agra city to work on this beautiful masterpiece. Located in India, Agra.

5. The Kellie’s Castle

Located in Batu Gajah, Malaysia. Built by William Kellie Smith for his spouse whom he married in the early 1900s and moved to Malaysia from Scotland. William built this castle to please his pregnant wife who was unhappy with their tiny wood home. The construction stopped in 1926 after his death, it was then claimed by the government. To this day, this place remains as one of the most romantic historic places of the world.

Built in early 20’s by Ed Leedskalnin who was left by his fiance. Leedskalnin worked for twenty-eight years on his tribute to his fiance. He built this castle working only at night with coral stone. Today, this legendary castle brings thousands of visitors around the world each year. Situated in Florida it is a common vacation spot frequented by tourists and couples.

This historic place was started as a promise of love and then changed into a honeymoon home. A son of a wealthy businessman fell in love with a weaver girl who said she might marry him if he builds a castle for her on a hill. The castle includes luxurious rooms and 4 small turrets with the main tower.
