India’s First Female Superstar, Sridevi, at Madame Tussauds

The curve of water as it froths from the Merlion’s mouth. The intricate swoops and dashes that make the Helix Bridge. The solemnity of the Cenotaph. Wend your way to Sentosa Island, walk into the Madame Tussauds and direct your gaze to its newest and most glamorous occupant: Sridevi.

Sridevi, born Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan, was an Indian actress who worked in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada film industries. She made her debut as a child artist at the age of 4 in the Tamil film Kandhan Karunai. Her first iconic role came with the film Moondru Mudichu as a young girl named Selvi. Over the years she established herself as an actress above par with movies like Lamhe, Moondram Pirai, Sadma, Mr. India, Kshana Kshanam, Pathinaru Vayathinile, Chaalbaaz, Nagina, Himmatwala and more. In the years before her death, she continued to excel, choosing iconic roles in movies like English Vinglish and Mom. In the course of her career Sridevi was the recipient of many awards, including the National Film Award, the Tamil Nadu Film Award, Filmfare Awards and more.

Undoubtedly one of the finest stars of the Indian film Industry, Sridevi’s beauty and talent deserved the best showcase, and that’s what she got at Madame Tussauds. On September 4th, 2019, Sridevi’s wax statue was unveiled at the Ultimate Film Star experience zone. The late actress’ husband Boney Kapoor, her daughters Jhanvi and Khushi, her sister Srilatha, brother in law Sanjay Kapoor and other family members were present at the unveiling, along with other dignitaries and distinguished guests.

Her wax figure, based on a still from the legendary song “Hawa Hawai” sees Sridevi at her most radiant, with her classic smile that has beguiled viewers for years.

Boney Kapoor at Madame Tussauds in Singapore

Once the launch is over, Sridevi’s wax statue will join other Bollywood stars in the Ultimate Film Star Experience Zone, placed in front of a memorial wall. Boney Kapoor left his message on the memorial wall for his wife, and you too can add your note of appreciation for Sridevi.

Once you’ve paid tribute to the actress, you’ll have a chance to meet and mingle with other stars in this Singapore galaxy. Craving a dance-off with Bollywood’s best? Now you can dance alongside Varun Dhawan. With the use of Kinect interactive features and real-time camera capture, you can now be part of a Bollywood dance number and watch as your moves are projected onto a digital wall.

There’s a whole set of experiences you can indulge in. Record a single or dub a film track with Kareena Kapoor Khan, star in a movie poster and take a selfie with Karan Johar at the end of the exhibit.

Sridevi’s exhibit will join this extravaganza very soon, and India’s brightest star will now be part of your Bollywood journey.
